- PEGIDA ("Patriotic Europeans against the Islamisation of the West") is a racist, right-wing movement, that formed was in the fall of 2014 and continues to hold weekly rallies which have continuously drawn substantial four-figure crowds; peak times saw 20.000+ attendees.
- While similar movements have sprung up in many cities throughout Germany, Dresden remains the only one in which they have managed to gain and maintain a substantial level of support.
- The growing violence in PEGIDA's rhetoric matches the alarming surge in violence against refugees, PoC, asylum seekers' housing facilities, journalists and left-wing politicians during 2015.
- The alliance "Dresden Nazifrei" has been mounting counter-protests throughout the winter of 2015, yet decided in April of 2015 that further weekly protest would be a waste of limited resources.
- Following the rejuvenilation of the PEGIDA-movement as a consequence of the intensified asylum-challenge, "Dresden Nazifrei" came to the conclusion that ignoring PEDIGA any loger would not be a feasible course of action anymore. Instead, it decided to organize a strategy conference to develop lasting protest concepts that are more suitable to counter PEGIDA as a specific saxonian phenomenon.

We would like the opportunity to express a clear opinion on this matter. To do so, a few questions need to be answered and will eventually lead to our point of view.
